My Great-Grandfather drown during a work accident, working for Long-Bell Lumber on the Ostrander Creek, Kelso. I have been searching for ANY record of his accident. It seems his employer did not value this employee enough to report his accident.

Efforts to recover the body of young Arthur Levy, who drowned in the Cowlitz river at Ostrander Saturday morning have proved futile. A diver was ordered from Portland to search the river bottom near where Levy was seen to fall, but after two attempts made Sunday the underwater search was given up.
County Coroner Van Note had charge of the search for the body in the river, and after making the Ostrander search, had the diver come to Kelso to make underwater search for other victims of the Cowlitz river bridge disaster. The diver returned to Portland Sunday after a futile search.
Levy fell from a scow into the Cowlitz river and was drowned at 9 o'clock Saturday. He lived at Ostrander, a town three miles north of here, where the accident occurred . Boatmen searched for his body, probably swept away by the river.

His father, Andy Levy, is employed by the mill at Ostrander.
Arthur was an expecting father when he was on the log filled pond at Long-Bell, a piece of equipment malfunctioned and fell on top of my Great-Grandfather, forcing him under the logs. He was not rescued, nor found, and his widow gave birth to a son not long after his death.
Arthur Levy, of Ostrander, was drowned in the Cowlitz river near the Ostrander Railway & Timber Co. loading dock about noon today. He was working on a barge which was being loaded with lumber, and was knocked into the river by a slingload of lumber as he was pulling the chain from beneath it, the chain releasing sooner than he had expected. The body had not been recovered at a late hour this afternoon despite constant dragging. A man was drowned at this same place six years ago and the body was never recovered.
Mr. Levy was a native of Ostrander and had lived in that community practically all his life. He attended the Ostrander Grammar School and Kelso High School.
