Alexander Archer was born at 'Mountford', Longford, on 14 Dec 1861, the second son of Robert Joseph Archer (1833-1914) and his first wife Ellen Elizabeth Clerke (1839-1875). Alexander obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree at Peterhouse College, Cambridge, and was admitted to the Middle Temple. He was a barrister and solicitor with the firm Law and Archer, Launceston. He died on 20 Feb 1945 in Launceston and was buried at Christ Church, Longford.
