Millie WESSON Next Generation:

James Wesson was the son of Edward Wesson. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Johnson and was born in 1754 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He died in 1826 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He married Nancy Ann Cleary on February 7th 1788 in Brunswick County, Virginia.

Millie WESSON Next Generation:

Edward Wesson, Sr. was the son of William Wesson and Elizabeth Blanchard and was born between 1710 and 1715 in the County of Surry in the Colony and Dominion of Virginia. He migrated to the County of Brunswick where he married Mary Elizabeth Johnson ca. 1740. Mary Elizabeth Johnson was born in 1724 in the County of Brunswick and was the daughter of James Johnson and Jane Unknown. Edward Wesson died in 1788 in Brunswick County, Virginia and Mary Elizabeth Wesson died between 1784 and 1790.

William Wesson was the son of Edward Weston/Wesson and was born in the County of Surry in the Colony and Dominion of Virginia before the year 1690. He married Elizabeth Blanchard Warren around the year 1708 in Smith's Fort, Surry County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John Warren and Rachel Williams and was born ca. 1685 in Rappahannock County, Virginia. She died on May 16th 1735 in Smith's Fort, Surry County, Virginia. William died at an early age on December 20th 1727. It is believed that Elizabeth did not remarry after William's death.

Edward Wesson/Weston was probably born in Bristol born in Bristol, Somersetshire {Somerset} County, England. At this point we have very few clues as to who his parents were but we suspect him to be a son of William Wesson {Weston} from Wales. Apparently he migrated from England to Virginia ca. 1669 and settled in the County of Lower Norfolk in the Colony and Dominion of Virginia. Lower Norfolk County is a long-extinct county which was located in colonial Virginia from 1637 until 1691. We have no idea who his wife was.

Tie this in to Presley Family History:

Rosella Presley is my great great grandmother and mother to Noah E. Presley, my great grandfather.

Johannes Valentin Bressler was born in the Palatinate, Germany, 1669 in the village of Hochstadt Valentine was employed there as a vine dresser.

Johannes married Anna Christiana Franse and immigrated to New York in 1710.

In June of 1710, approx. 2,400 Germans (Palatinate) arrived in New York and New Jersey from England. Johannes Bressler and family had left Germany looking for a better life in America.

They arrived in London between May and November of 1709. On 14 June 1710 among those arriving on the ship 'Fame', (Captain Walter Houxton), were the following:

Johann Valentin Bressler, 41,
his wife, Anna Christiana, 36, born Germany 1674
children; Anna Elisabetha, 14
Anna Gertrud, 12
Andreas, 6
Antoni, 4
Son 1-1/2

The Pressler family was first mentioned in 1494;
In the early generations of the family, in America, the German surnames were often turned into English.

After the mid-1800s many members of the family changed their last name to Pressley or Pressly.

This continued down Elvis Presley 'line' to his grandfather Jessie D. McDowell Presley (J.D.). I have been told that McDowell may have been McClowell.
