No mention of John, the stepson of William Steel and full brother to Rosalinda and Rosella. There is no "Mary Jane" living in the household of Millie Wesson. "Mary Jane" is a rumor that has been attached to Rosalinda and it is not true. Rosalinda never legally changed her name to "Mary Jane". Martha Jane was her mother. Therefore, there is NO LEGAL documentation of a MARY JANE PRESLEY, only Rosella and Rosalinda Presley; two sisters.
The 1890 Population Census was destroyed by fire in 1921.
According to the 1910 Census, Itawamba County, Clay, Mississippi, Rosella and Rosalinda's father was born in North Carolina. Their stepfather, William Steel, was born in Georgia.
With Rosalinda's natural father, Dunning Presley, gone and her natural mother, Martha Jane Wesson Presley Steel deceased, it is rumored that William Steel, her stepfather, was the father of her first born child.
