Pedro "Pete" Avalos, 73, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Honoring his wishes, Pete will be laid to rest in his family plot in Pettus, Texas. Pete was born April 29, 1939 in Mathis, Texas to the late Onesimo Avalos, Sr. and Lena Cavazos Avalos. He was raised in Mathis with his eight brothers and sisters. He was a graduate of Mathis High School. Following graduation, Pete served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Pete traveled the world in his career as an oil rig foreman, spoke multiple languages, and always had an exciting story to tell about his travels. He was a mentor and friend to many throughout his career. Pete valued family and spent most of his spare time visiting with them. He most recently took a road trip to the western United States with his son, Gabe, and his grandson, Alex. Pete loved to cook and you never left his house without a full stomach, a smile, and a great story. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether repairing a car, mending something broken, or leaving a few groceries behind when visiting family and friends. Pete is preceded in death by his parents Onesimo and Lena Avalos, Sr., and his brothers, Onesimo Avalos, Jr. and Arcadio Avalos, Sr. Pete will be remembered as a hard-working man who was willing to do anything for his family. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
