James L. "Rebel" Hudson

James L. "Rebel" Hudson, 84, of Shippensburg, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2009 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born November 10, 1924 in Clara, MS, he was a son of the late Ellis Julus and Alifair Lucretia Lucas Hudson.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines. James was employed in the Mobile, Alabama's shipyard before moving to Shippensburg in 1953 where he worked for SKF Industries for the next 30 years. He also volunteered at King's Kettle, had many hobbies including, country music, playing guitar and singing.
He was married on March 22, 1947, to Hazel Jane McConaughey Hudson, his wife of 62 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Dennis Hudson and his wife, Joyce, of Walnut Bottom, and Robert Hudson and his companion, Deb, of Biglerville, a daughter, Wanda Roberts and her husband, Jesse, of Fayetteville, two stepdaughters, Gail Waring and her husband, Lynn, of Phoenix, AZ, and Billie Marie Simmons and her husband, Bernie, of Wellsboro, a foster son, Randy Bowers, Sr., of Chambersburg, three sisters, Hazel Mae Brewer, Jettie Vanosdal, Faye Douglas, and a brother, E.J. "Buddy" Hudson all of Mississippi, eighteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Witter, a great grandson, Kenneth Hudson, step mother Bertha Hudson Jordan, and brothers, Gilbert "Gib", Wilbert "Will" and Bobby Hudson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 14, 2009 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2 P.M. Officiating will be the Rev. Dennis Hudson, Rev. Doyle Rogers, Rev. Lloyd Zimmerman, and Rev. Robert Hudson, Jr. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion marching units will be in Mt. Rock Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery. The viewing will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 P.M. in the funeral home.
