Samantha was a beloved member of our family, picked out by my daughter, Katie, in 1986 when she was only two months old. Through the years Samantha was always there for everyone, through thick and thin and the fact of the matter is, life wasn't really life without Samantha. She celebrated her 17th birthday on the 4th of July in perfect health and vitality and then, the next day, she was on hand to assist her human family members in planting flowers and doing garden work. Towards dinnertime she, as always, was famished ... and she ate a huge dinner, then she asked to go out onto our deck for awhile at twilight. I let her out and she lay down peacefully amid the flowers on the deck - and died.

Samantha is survived by her heartbroken human family, Joe, Kathleen and Katie - and her fellow furry companions, Maggie, Cole, Mootsie, Hickory, Daphne, Macy, Trey and Greg. We all send her off with a big THANK YOU and we want her to know that life will never be the same again.
