Mr. Beck was born in Erbach, Hessen Darmstadt, Germany in 1810 the son of Bernhard and Sophia Beck. He came to the United States in 1832 and later moved to Columbus in 1833. he was for a long time engaged in stone masonry and was a member of the firm Schwars, Beck & Co., he was well known through-out the county. Mr. Beck was survived by his wife Elizabeth and six married children. He lived at 48 East Fulton Street where he died at 11:30. He had been suffering for about two years and was only confined to his home for a week prior to his death. He died of Kidney Failure and was interred on December 8, 1875. His interment No. 6737 undertaker was Schoedinger. His wife Elizabeth Bruner Beck died January 18, 1890.
