F.W. Woody was born on September 26, 1928 in Sledge, Mississippi, the son of Fernando W. Loden Jr. and Valeria Sorrells Loden. He was a real estate developer, and formerly owned a fuel distribution center. He was a developer and enthusiastic supporter of businesses in the Batesville and Northern Mississippi area.

Loden attended Freed-Hardeman College and David Lipscomb College where he earned degrees in Business.

Woody served in the US Army Medical Corps during the Korean War. He married one of his Army Buddy's sister, Patsy Ruth Daniels in 1957. Every Valentines Day was special for the Lodens.

Woody served as a longtime Elder of the Batesville Church of Christ. He preached and taught classes which brought out his sense of humor, generosity and love for Christ and those who attend those classes. He truly care for others and it showed in how he treated each person he touched.

Woody also contributed much to Christian Education, helping Magnolia Bible College in Kosciusko, Mississippi, as well as his alma mater, Freed-Hardeman University. He served 42 years on the Board of Trustees (the longest tenure in the history of FHU), 10 as Vice Chairman and 10 as Chairman. He contributed funds, time and labor to FHU. This included the funding for the building of the Loden-Daniels Library named in honored of the fathers of Woody and Patsy. He also personally helped students financially in attending FHU. Many students are grateful for this generosity. Because of his unsolicited efforts he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree from FHU.

Besides these endeavors, Woody and his family were vigorously supporters of Sardis Lake Christian Camp, near Batesville, which gave many a youth a place to spend a week or two in a wholesome, Christian environment.

He is survived by his wife Patsy, His daughter Lisa (Mark) Castleberry, His son Woody (Crystal) Loden IV, and four grandchildren as well as a multitude of friends who have been touched by his life.
