About 10 o'clock last Sunday night Miss Johnnie Mae Abbott, age 23, was killed instantly when the automobile she was driving got out of control a few hundred yards north of Lomax. The body was picked up by Martins ambulance, brought to Clanton and turned over to Spigener Funeral Home. Services were held at Concord Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. W. Interment was in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Spigener directing.
Pallbearers were Lewis McGee, Jimmy Taylor, Buck Bice, Dewey Driver, Herman Lecroy, Ben Stoddard.
The mother, Mrs. Emma Abbott of North Clanton, survives, as well as one brother, Cecil Abbott, of Siluria; four sisters Mrs. W. L. Mansel of Denison, Texas, Mrs. Lula Mae Jones of Detroit, Michigan, Misses Flossie and Katie Jean Abbott of Clanton; grandmother, Mrs. John Martin of Bessemer RFD.
Miss Abbott was a native of near Jemison and attended school at Jemison High school. For some time, she had been employed at Ike Bices Cafe on the highway north of Clanton.
