PRESQUE ISLE - Marjorie H. Smith, 94, wife of the late Ora "O.C." Smith, died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at her home. She was born May 11, 1916, in Bridgewater, daughter of Howard Lee and Harriett Evelina (Quick) Sargent. Marjorie was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She attended Presque Isle Normal School from 1936 to 1938, then graduated from Gorham State College in 1939 with a teaching degree. She taught school in Bridgewater for one year. She then married and began raising her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Young of Martin, Tennessee; Marina Lossez and Melanie Bagley, both of Presque Isle; and four sons; Kendall Smith of Florida; Thurlow Smith (Gretchen) of Augusta; Harlow Smith (Judi;) and Orlan Smith, all of Presque Isle; 10 grandchildren (Melanie, Thomas, Marcia, Alison, Erik, Jared, Stacey, Todd, Gregory, and June), 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In 2016, she added two more great-grandaughters and her first great-great granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, Marjorie was predeceased by a brother, Chester Sargent; two sisters, Emma Brewer and Edna Jahn; a granddaughter, Hope; a grandson, Aaron; her daughter-in-law, Linda Smith; and a son-in-law, William Lossez.

She is buried beside her husband in Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. And she is missed greatly every day.
