HAS 113 DIRECT DESCENDANTS LIVING, Mrs. Hannah Apsey has children, 51 grand and 54 great grandchildren - Living a quiet, retired life on the shore of Lincoln (Twin) lake is one of the early residents of our little village, Mrs. Hannah Apsey. Hannah Harris was born in Devonshire, England, June 28, 1829, and was married there to Edmund Apsey in 1844. Two years later the couple set sail for New York, and it was while upon the ocean that their eldest daughter, now Mrs. Noble, was born. Arriving on this side, Mr. and Mrs. Apsey went to Hamilton, Ontario, where they engaged in the mercantile business. They afterward moved to St. Clair County, this state, where they engaged in farming, and later to Sanilac County and operating in the lumbering and saw mill business as well as in farming. Twenty-six years ago the family moved to this village, then West Harrisville, and purchased a farm upon the Northern banks of Twin Lake - a beautiful location - and this property is still in hands of Mrs. Apsey and two of her sons, Mack and William. Mr. Apsey died in 1902, and Mrs. Apsey now resides upon the old homestead, with her one unmarried son, Frank. Mrs. Apsey Was the mother of 12 children: Mrs. Sarah Noble of Kingston, Mich., John, and George Apsey, and Mrs. Minnie Devitt of Peck, Mich., Robert, William, Frank and Mack Apsey of Lincoln are the living members of the immediate family. Mrs. Apsey also numbers 51 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren among her descendants. Tho 85 years of age and feeling the weight of years "Grandma" Apsey is still able to perform her household duties, and still enjoys social intercourse with the many friends which her sterling qualities and noble character have provided and retained.
