Scott Moody was born to Larry Sam Moody Sr (b 10-10-1942, d 11-6-2014) & Amy Lue Basford (b 5-21-1946, d 6-27-2023). He was a Class of 1988 Interlachen High School graduate, 1st Baptist Church of Interlachen, Florida Choir Singer (his greatest passion) and Fireman of Station 13, Hollister, Florida VFD. His siblings included Larry S. Moody, Jr (b 7-21-1968) and Tammy L. Moody. His fiancee', Pamela M. O'Quinn, a 1982 Palatka High School graduate, was killed in an automobile accident near Hollister, Florida in 1992. Scott never had any other romantic interests after losing her, and never recovered from her loss. He made an outstanding friend & loving son, brother-in-law, and brother. I will always remember him for his love of Mountain Dew, Christmas, gospel music, and his nieces. He was a chronic epileptic who was plagued with that disorder all his life. His greatest fear was that his epilepsy would deteriorate to the point that he would lose his Florida Firefighter certification and driver license. He suffered a grand mall seizure while grocery shopping at the Wynn-Dixie store in Palatka, Florida, stuck his head on a shelf when he fell, never regained consciousness and passed away in route to the local hospital. His short life touched many and will never be forgotten.

LIFE: 29 Years, 5 Months, 10 Days

CAUSE OF DEATH: Epilepsy/ Grand Mall Seizure

A FIREMAN's PRAYER

When I am called to duty, God,
Wherever flame may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life,
Whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late,
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor
And protect his property.

And if according to my fate,
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with Your protecting hand
My children and my wife.
