Mrs. Catherine Bales, Mother of John C. Bales, Is Claimed

Recently Celebrated Her 90th Birthday: Funeral to be held Friday

One of the well known and esteemed pioneer residents of Hardin County and the mother of a well known Kenton business man was claimed, when Mrs. Catherine E. Bales passed away. She had been ill for the past three years with complications and was bedfast for the past three weeks.
Mrs. Bales was born in Lafayette on April 9, 1836 and was 90 years and six days old at the time of her demise. She moved to Hardin County when twelve years old living on a farm on the Taylor Creek pike. In 1861 she was united in marriage to Burel F. Bales and to this union six children, five sons and one daughter were born. All of these, with the exception of John C. Bales of this city preceded her in death. She is also survived by three grand children and eight great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of Christ but due to illness had not attended services for several years.
Funeral services will be held from the First Reformed Church Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment will be made in Grove Cemetery.
