David E. Cady, 77, of 5008 Russell St., Midland, died Thursday in the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Gladwin June 3, 1910, he attended Gladwin County Normal and taught school here. Mr. Cady owned a gas station in Gladwin and then was a superintendent of the pipefitters for Dow Corning Corp. until retiring in 1968. He was member of the Gladwin Masonic Lodge and a world traveler.

Mr. Cady and the former Grace Ritchie were married June 12, 1939, in Fargo, N.D. She preceded him in death July 14, 1983. Surviving are 2 daughters, Catherine Scott of Belmont and Vernice Swope of Chicago, Ill.; one brother Melvin of Gladwin; 4 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.

Rites were held Monday at 11am from the Midland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ira Bush officiated and burial was in Highland Cemetery, Gladwin. Memorials may be made to the Michigan Lung Association. Arrangements were in charge of the Ware-Smith–Woolever Funeral Home.
