George W. Blanck was born in Camden in 1845. At the age of 16 , he enlisted in The 23rd Pennsylvania Volunteers, "Birney's Zouaves" on September 1st 1861 as a Musician. When the Musicans were sent home, he volunteered as a Private. He was captured with Company B at Stone House Mountain in September 1863. He was exchanged on December 10th 1864. He was discharged from Service on March 15th 1865. He moved back to NJ after the War and remained in Camden for the remainder of his life. He died in 1922 at the age of 77.
