Pearl Van Gundy, the 17-year-old East High School student who was pulled unconscious from, the high school's swimming pool last Dec. 11, died Saturday at Des Moines General Hospital.
Miss Van Gundy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Van Gundy of 1516 E. Twenty-ninth St., was among about 25 girls who had been swimming in the East High pool during a physical education class.
