Lee, as he was known, was born to Paul and Martha (Latzke) Boelter. He was married 48 years to Fran, and they had three sons together.
After Lee graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1947, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. After he left the Air Force, he worked at Electric Motor Service. He then worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac for 22 years, retiring from there in 1990.
Lee was a member of Masonic Lodge #21, Pontiac-Oakland Club International, and a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Pontiac.
