Dick was born April 5, 1941 to Charles and Annabel Smith in Nevada, Ohio. He moved to New London in 1956 and graduated from NLHS 1959. While in school he was active in the FFA and played tackle on the NLHS football team. Dick farmed and owned his own excavating company. He loved to be outside, working, fishing, hunting, nature,playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Dick is survived by his children, Scott (Ann) McCague, Marc (Mercedes), Craig and Kim (Chris) Gallagher, 5 Grandchildren and siblings, Geneva Secrist, Marilyn Keller and Charles "Ed" Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jane Smith.
