Rev. Dr. Bailey's parents were Aaron and Minerva Bailey.
He was the pastor of St. John Baptist Church [San Antonio] for 38 years . He also presided as president of the Guadalupe Sunday School and B.T.U. Congress for 28 years. I met him in the early 1980s when he was an auxiliary chaplain at Randolph Air Force Base, Chapel Two. Rev. Bailey obtained a Bachelors of Theology from Conroe Normal and Industrial College and went on to obtain his Doctorate of Divinity from Guadalupe Seminary.
His life was an example of spiritual fullness and determination. He would say, "Let the work I've done speak for me" .
He is held in loving memory by his wife, Bennie Lee Bailey, affectionately (Bee); daughters, Beola Marie Baker (Wilton), Theresa Lenell Gordon (Oscar), grandson, Mack Willard Thomas III (Fanny); great-grandson, Darian Donovan Thomas.
Rev. Bailey loved the Lord, his family, his work and life itself. His optimism and positive view of life was consistent. His life blessed all who knew him. His Godly and powerful legacy will live on.
His love and concern will be missed by many nephews, nieces and friends.
