County Native Fatally Hurt In Fall Friday
W. Ray Chilcott, 56, assistant cashier of the Punxsutawney National Bank and a native of Huntingdon County, died Friday night in Adrian Hospital, Punxsutawney, from a fractured skull suffered in a fall at his home.
He presumably tripped while descending the cellar stairs, struck his head and died an hour later at 10:45 o'clock
Born August 20, 1883, at Mapleton, he was a son of R. W. and Nancy "Dopp" Chilcott. He was a 1905 graduate of Juniata College. He went to Punxsutawney in 1919 as cashier of the County National Bank and held that position until the bank merged with the Punxsutawney National.
In June, 1923, he was married to Nancy M. Weidenhamer, who survives. Also surviving are one son, W. Ray, Jr., a student at Juniata College and a sister Mrs. W. B. Hillman of Yakima, Washington.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at his late residence. The Rev. J. A. Cousins, pastor of the Methodist Church, will conduct the services and burial will follow in Circle Hill Cemetery.
