August 12, 1927 ~ March 2, 2017 (age 89)
Edward J. Alford, 89, passed away at his Ocean Ridge home in Florida on Thursday March 2, 2017. He was the only child born to John and Catherine Alford on August 12, 1927, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York and attended Saint Ephrem's Elementary School and Xavier Military High School.
Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country proudly.
After his honorable discharge he attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland where he graduated with his Bachelor Degree in Business and Economics.
Upon graduation from college he began a successful twenty nine year career with the Department of Justice as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the New York City office. Upon retirement from the bureau, he worked in Banking Security and the Motion Picture industry.
In 1952, he married and was especially devoted to his bride. Together they raised their four children in their Garden City New York home.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 65 years, and three children. He is predeceased by his daughter Frances.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family and pay their respects on Friday March 10th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Ave., Garden City, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Anne Roman Catholic Church, 35 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY. Interment will be at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury NY.
