GALVA - Dale A. Anderson, 69, of Galva, died at 7:05 PM, Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at University Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by the Galva Fusiliers. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and inurnment will be held at the Galva Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Methodist Church.

Mr. Anderson was born on January 13, 1937 in Waukegan, IL, the son of Arthur 'Chink' and Marjorie (Flynn) Anderson. He was married to Shirley Doxsee in 1956, Peg Larrington and Ruth (Plym) McCue on October 7, 1994. She survives in Galva. He is also survived by 1 daughter, Melissa 'Missy' (Brian) Smith of Rock Island, IL, 1 son and 3 daughters by his second marriage, a step-son Jeff (Debbie) McCue of Wataga, IL, 2 step-daughters, Annette (Tim) McClay of East Galesburg, IL & Amy (Mike) Walters of Smithfield, VA, 2 grandchildren, Marty Matherly of Rock Island, IL, Michael Matherly of Normal, IL, 8 grandchildren by his second marriage, 8 step grandchildren, 1 great grandson, Kyle Matherly, 5 great-grandchildren by his second marriage, 10 step great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, 1 sister Barb Hopkins of Galva, IL, a half brother, John Kolvan and a half sister, Doris Bakos of Racine, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Mr. Anderson served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked at various foundries in Galva, the Galva Foundry, Alton Box Co. of Galesburg, IL, as a welder for Rock Island Bridge & Iron Work, as a barber in Rockford, as a custodian at a hospital in California and as a Production Supervisor at Lucky stores for 10 years until his retirement. He attended the Grace Methodist Church in Galva. He enjoyed traveling, golf, playing rummy and going to casinos. He was a hat collector with over 500 in his collection and a lover of his John Deere riding lawn mower.
