Prinzessin Marie Viktoria Feodore Leopoldine von Hessen und bei Rhein was the youngest Child of Ludwig IV, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine, and his wife, born Princess Alice of the United Kingdom, a daughter of Queen Victoria. She was the younger sister of Alexandra, the wife of Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia.

Known as May within the family, she died from diptheria. Her mother died a few weeks later. They are both interred inside the Neues Mausoleum.
