Diane Walkup Bennett, a resident of Terrell, NC, formerly of Charlotte, passed away in the comfort of her home on December 5, 2011. Diane was born June 20, 1948, the oldest daughter of Joseph Neal Walkup and Mildred Crump Walkup. She grew up in Derita, NC and graduated from North Mecklenburg High school in 1965.
Diane worked as a food service manager through most of her career. In 1999 she and her husband established Print Delivery Service, Inc. and was the secretary/treasurer until her retirement in July of this year.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Diane always put her family first. As sad as it is to lose her, we all take comfort from knowing that she has been released from her earthly pain and is now in Heaven watching us and looking for ways to help us in our sorrow. She had given her life to Christ years ago, and He has given us comfort and told us that she is now with Him.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Tiffany Tulowiecki and sister, Patricia Huffman. She is survived by her husband Bill, son Kenneth Neal Thomas and his wife Jane, daughter Anita Thomas Zado and her husband Gregg, sisters, Lynn Walkup Wilson and her husband Rob, Donna Walkup McTighe and her husband Mike, nieces Julie Stukes and her husband Tommy and Nicole King and her husband BJ. She was especially proud of her three grandchildren Neal Thomas, Cortney Thomas and Hunter Zado.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 6:30 PM at Blair Road United Methodist Church, Mint Hill. Visitation will be from 5:00- 6:30 PM prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 9, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
