Fred's Obituary

Fred Bullard, one of the well known pioneers of Oregon City, died at the family home in Mountain View addition Monday morning at 3 o'clock, after an illness of one month. The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, with interment in the Mountain View Cemetery.

Fred Bullard was born in Germany, and was in his 80th year at the time of his death. He married Miss Charlotte Hornshuh, and came to Oregon City 34 years ago, where he has since made his home.

Mr. Bullard is survived by his widow, Mrs. Charlotte Bullard, of Oregon City, who has been an invalid for the past year; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Schoenborn, of Oregon City, and Mrs. J. D. Baker, of Oregon City, and three sons, Frank and Chris, of Oregon City and Robert of Schuebel.

Fred's Biography

Fredrick (Fred) Bullert/Ballard/Bullard married Frederike (Charlotte) (Hornschuch/Hornshuh). According to the Emma Ives Ship Passenger List, Fred, Charlotte, and their two Daughters Augusta, and Emily immigrated to the United States from Germany, Prussia in 1863. They departed from Hamburg, Germany and arrived in New York on July 31, 1863 at the Castle Garden. They lived in Butler Twp. and Roaring Creek Twp., Pennsylvania and Oregon City, Oregon. In 1881, the Bullard Family came from Allentown, PA via a Steamboat to Oregon, probably from New York around South America and ending up in Oregon. Fred was a miner and a day laborer. They had four Daughters and four Sons. He passsed away from Chronic Interstitial Nephritis and Pulmonary Edema at age 79 or 80. According to his Death Cert., he was born in 1837, but his grave stone has 1836 on it. I have no idea who his Parents are, so if anyone knows, then please e-mail me.
