William B. Abbott was born June 17, 1864, and departed this life on Jan. 18, 1937, at the age of 72 years, seven months and one day. He was united in marriage to Anna Thomas on Aug. 8, 1885. To this union were born three children, Marion, and F.R. who have preceded him in death and Violet Nix, who survives. He united with the Baptist church several years ago. Besides the widow and one daughter, he leaves to mourn his departure, four sisters Mrs. Balem Burgess and Mrs. Will Johnson of Sparta, Mrs. R.A. Walker of Joplin and Mrs. Tom Bennett of Huntington Park, Calif., five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. in the Sparta Baptist church with Rev. Worth Caughron officiating, with burial in the Sparta cemetery under the direction of the Sparta Undertaking Co., Rathbun & Chaffin.
