AUDREY F. BALLANCE, age 95

On Tuesday, 5 Mar 2013 Mr. Audrey F. Ballance passed away at the age of 95--with his children and grandchildren by his side. Audrey was married to the love of his life, Norma, for 47 years and who preceded him in death in 1992. He was greatly loved and cherished by his three daughters: Donna Neal and husband Buddy of Bealeton, VA; Carol Campbell and husband Dennis of Nokesville, VA; Rose Lam and husband Danny of Nokesville, VA.; one son Michael Ballance and wife Darlene of Mechanicsville, VA. He was survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Ballance served his country in the US Navy during WW II, and during that time was assigned to the US Naval Ship 'Ramapo'-which was stationed at Pearl Harbor on 7 Dec 1941 when the US was attacked by the Japanese. He served on two ships, the 'Helo' and the 'Hollandia.' Prior to military service he was a member of the Merchant Marines-which took him around the world twice. Later in life, Audrey retired from the RFP Railroad where he had worked as a brakeman and conductor. He was awarded the 'Roll of Honor' and recognized for completing 25 years of service.
The family received friends on Friday, 8 Mar 2013 from 6-9 PM at the PIERCE FUNDERAL HOME on Center Street in Manassas, VA. Funeral services were held on Saturday, 9 Mar 2013 at 11 AM--where his grandson Brandon Ballance officated. Burial followed at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bealeton, Fauquier Co., VA where he was laid to rest next to his loving wife.
