Francis Eugene "Buddy" Akers passed away Wednesday April 13, 2010.
He was born on June 7, 1915 in Dougherty, Oklahoma to William Oscar and Mertie Mae (Gibson) Akers.On July 16, 1938, he married Irene B. Parker in Era, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2007.He worked for the Denton State School as a chief mechanic until his retirement in 1977.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Looper and Debbie Barber-Cross both of Sanger; son, Larry Akers of Sanger; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Harvey of Sanger; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Justin Cody Looper in 2006.
