Elsie attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Ridgewood Grade School. She then graduated from Springfield High School where she majored in the arts and was a member of the well-known a cappella choir. She loved charcoal sketching, and her paintings in water colors and oils were exhibited widely.
Her first husband, Alonzo McQuinn, who she married in 1936, died in 1957 was a veteran of WWI. She later married Vernon Albright on July 10, 1965. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph H. Ray of Hillsboro and James I. Ray of Springfield; and four sisters, Mary V. Whisker, Gladys J. Ray, Ruby C. Ray and Eloise M. Hill, all of Springfield. She is survived by two sisters, Lillian Kennedy of Springfield and Charlotte Theobald of Sun Prairie, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
Elsie was a long time member of St. Cabrini Church in Springfield, Illinois.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
