Deceased Name: BLACKBURN, LESLIE (LES) CARTER
May 8, 1919 to December 28, 2007 Les passed away peacefully on December 28, 2007, with his family by his side, at his home in Rancho Bernardo, California, at the age of 88 years. Les was predeceased by his beloved wife Olive (Ollie) and sister Micky. He was a loving father to his three children, Marnie Warren (Carl), James Blackburn and Don Blackburn (Nicole) and adored grandfather to Scott (Kelly), Barbie (Kevin), Zara (Brandon), Kevin, Breanne, Arryl, Danika and Robert. Les also leaves four wonderful great-grandchildren: Ryder, Jordan, Kamlyn and Jack. Les is also survived by his sister, Audrey Smith. Les was born in Claresholm, Alberta and later moved to Calgary where he spent his adult years. He married beautiful Ollie Carrie in 1940, and they celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Les served with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Upon his return, he undertook ownership of the family business, which was to mark the beginning of a long career of entrepreneurship. Les was a past President of the Calgary Stampede and a past Governor of Kiwanis International (Western Canada District). Les and Ollie spent their last twenty years in Rancho Bernardo, and have many friends there. Being a caring man of noble character, Les will be much missed by his surviving family and friends.
