Richard Archibald
Twelve-year Ocean Shores resident Richard
A. Archibald, 68, died Saturday, Ded. 20,
2003, in Grays Harbor Community Hospital
at Aberdeen.
Mr. Archibald was born July 21, 1935, at
San Diego., to Jack S. and Lucille (Barnhill)
Archibald. He graduated from San Diego High
School in 1963, then served in the Army.
After his discharge, he returned to San Diego.
On June 6, 1969, he married Diane Allin at
Yuma, Artz. She survies him at their home.
Mr. Archibald worked as an auto body
mechanic for 30 years, owning a body
shop and auto wrecking business in San
Diego.
In 1980, he moved to Lakewood, and he
and his wive operated a pet shop out of
their home, selling talking parrots. They
then moved the shop to Pike's Place
Market in Seattle for 15 years and sold
business when they moved to Ocean
Shores.
He and his wife managed various motels,
including the Silver King at Ocean Shores
at the time of his death.
Mr. Archibald enjoyed hunting, and he and
his wife went on an African safari in 1970.
They had also traveled to Germany and
Ireland.
He was a member of the National Rifle
Association.
He loved his dog, C. W., and his talking
parrot, Murdock.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by
two daughters, Melissa Smith of Medford,
Ore., and Sandra D. Sandborn of Clifton,
Artz.: a son, David A. of Puyallup, his
mother of Ocean Shores; six grand-
children and six great grandchldren.
A gathering of family and friends is set for
2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Alec's
by the Sea at Ocean Shores.
Arrangements are by the Colman
