Today there will be silence,
no crying will you hear.
I didn't mean to anger you,
I just wanted you near.

Today there will be sleep again,
I won't cry out in vain.
The nights I needed comforting,
were filled with hurt and pain.
How could someone so big and strong,
strike out at little me?
I was a gift, your little boy
unwanted now, I see.

Today there will be love at last,
l on angels wings I'll soar.
Way up high, above the clouds,
through heavens golden doors.
So, say a prayer for me
for the life I'll never know
I just wish you could have cared for me
for I would have loved you so

~ Sherry GautreauAdrian, God saw you so tired, and he wrapped you in his loving arms, and whispered ‘come with me’.

Adrian Alexander Jones came into this world as a blessing on May 15, 2008. On September 28, 2015 at age 7, our sweet little boy earned his angel wings and went to his heavenly home. Our little superhero was strong and courageous in his fight, and went through hell and came out of the darkness as our precious angel. Our wish for you Adrian is that in heaven you get to skip through rain puddles, run through green meadows, sit at the end of rainbows, sleep peaceful within the stars, make many friends, get all the hugs and kisses you so deserve, and that you always spread your angel wings and soar. Thank you Lord for blessing us with this beautiful soul. Until we are together again, fly high sweet angel.

Adrian leaves behind his loving mother, Dainna Pearce of Lawrence KS, three sisters, Keiona Doctor, Madison and Tiesa Jones, two brothers Tarrell and Hayden Haynes, grandparents Judy Conway of Emporia, KS and Tracy Pearce of San Pedro, CA, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of many friends worldwide. On Friday, a Kansas City, Kan., lawmaker introduced a bill in the Kansas Legislature that would create an added penalty in child abuse cases.

Rep. Louis Ruiz said his proposal would require family members or adults living in a household where there was severe abuse to intervene somehow and report the abuse.

At this point in the state’s legislative session, it’s unclear if the bill has enough support, or if there’s time, for it to pass.

More details in Adrian’s case could come when Jones is sentenced Monday. In Friday’s statement, Gilmore said that Adrian’s death is “truly a tragedy, and our hearts remain deeply saddened by his passing.”

“The death of any child through abuse and/or neglect is always a tragic loss,” Gilmore said, “but the circumstances surrounding Adrian’s last days are unconscionable as to how anyone could do this to an innocent little boy.”
