German Stage Actress.
She received an education in the college for music in Berlin till 1917 and gave piano lessons with which she financed her education in acting. On the 10th of April, 1920 she married her first husband Wilhelm Graaf. Her husband founded the film company "Rimax" in 1923, which also produced silent feature films with Maria Bard. She gave her film debut under the name "Migo Bard" in 1924 and in the same year she received an engagement in the "Münchener Kammerspiele / Munich Chamber Theatre" together with Otto Falckenberg.
In 1926 she changed to the "Deutsches Theater / German Theatre" in Berlin and appeared also in Vienna/Austria at the "Theater in der Josefstadt". In October, 1928 she celebrated a big success in the drama "X, Y, Z" by Klabund, aka Alfred Henschke. After the dismissal of Max Reinhardt in 1933 she went from the "Deutsches Theater" to the "Preussisches Staatstheater / Prussian State theatre" to work with Gustaf Gründgens. Maria Bard became a prolific actress. Best known for her role in "Berlin Alexanderplatz / Berlin Alexander's Square" by Alfred Döblin in the role of 'Cilly'. Maria Bard's marriage to Graaf ended in divorce around 1930. From 1931 to 1940 she was married to actor Werner Krauss and in 1940 she married actor Hannes Stelzer. She died in 1944 of suicide.
