She married John Allan, Jr. in Richmond on 18 January 1860. They had two children, Hoffman and Louisa. (John's father, John Allan, Sr., was the foster father of Edgar Allan Poe.) John Jr., a Confederate cavalry officer, was killed in action near Gettysburg in 1863. Henrietta next married John's younger brother, William Galt Allan, in Richmond on 22 November 1865. They had no children, and he died in 1868.
Her grave in the Allan family plot, near both her husbands, was marked in October 2015 through the efforts of the "Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery."
