Miss Georgana Abramson, 53, 144 Sumner St., died Saturday at 9:17 p.m. at Cottage Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1918, at Galesburg, and was graduated from Galesburg High School, Western Illinois University, Macomb, and earned her master's degree at the University of Colorado.
She taught physical education at Carpentersville Community High School, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the National Education Association and the Illinois Education Association.
She served with the Waves during World War II, and was the first woman to be taken into membership of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are uncles and aunts, including Miss Cecile Bloomfield, Galesburg.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, where visitation will be Tuesday evening. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society, the family said.
