Enlisted at Peoria, May 14, 1918; to Great Lakes and Naval Base at Hampton Roads, VA; went to sea July 4, on the USS Kentucky, doing convoy duty; transferred to Cargo Ship, USS Tanamo, carrying auto trucks to Bordeaux, France; December 11, transferred to USS Sara Thompson, oil supply ship at Azore Islands; released from active service, June 29, 1919, at Great Lakes, IL.
Forrest Adams, about 46 years of age, died at his home in Elba Center at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Adams was taken to the Proctor hospital in Peoria, where he remained for a week, and on Thursday he was brought to his home, where he was in a serious condition until his death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Edna Adams; seven children, Glenn, age 18 years; Betty, 16; Muriel, 12; James, Fay, Marjorie and the 8-months old baby, Sammie; one sister, Eva Wilson of Peoria, other relatives and friends. His parents preceded him in death; his mother, Mrs. Kitty Adams, died one year ago in January. Forrest served his country in the World War and suffered the loss of his only brother, Alvin, who was killed in France.
Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church in Yates City at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in charge of the American Legion Salem-Elba post, with burial in Yates City cemetery. The body was taken to the David Funeral home in Maquon, where it will remain until the hour of service Friday.
