Robert M. "Bob" Alfery, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Mr. Alfery was born June 8, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Fritz and Bertha Pletcher Alfery. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Bob was a 1969 graduate of Hempfield Area High School, and received his associate degree in business from Penn State University. He was the vice president of the former Alfery Sausage Co. and the owner of the former Corner Laundromat in Mt. Pleasant. Bob was a former member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club and the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club. He was a true outdoorsman, who loved spending time manicuring his lawn, and an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and skier. Bob is survived by his loving family; his wife, Colleen McGarrity Alfery; his children, Ben Alfery and his wife, Amy, of Greensburg, Heather Alfery, of Derry, Amanda Metzger, of Connellsville, and Bethany Alfery, of Ligonier; and his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Jordan and Shana Bosas. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Michael Alfery and his wife, Grace, of Youngwood, Lena Eder, of New Jersey, Margaret Altschaffl and her husband, Joseph, of Greensburg, and Christina Rubal and her husband, Robert, of Hollsopple. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Alfery Haaz, in 2000. Family and friends will be received from 2 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by his 10 a.m. funeral Mass in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
