NEWPORT NEWS - Charlie A. Andleton, 89, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2003. A native of Halifax County, N.C., he had been a Peninsula resident for 65 years.
In 1979 he retired as a pipefitter for Newport News Shipyard after 39 years of service. He was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church.
Mr. Andleton was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Annie J. Andleton.
Survivors include his daughter, Annie Jane Wesley and her husband, Chaffin, of Hampton; two sisters, Estelle Searls and Musie Ballard and her husband, Thomas, all of Hampton; his brother, Paul Andleton of Mechanicsville; four grandchildren, Robyn Wesley of Atlanta, Ga., Michelle Harold and her husband, Andy, of Jacksonville, Fla., Marty Wesley and his wife, Tess, of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Michael Wesley and his fiancée, Tracy Dearth, of Marietta, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Madeleine Harold, Lauryn-Ann Harold and Mathew and Sarah Wesley; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home by Dr. Danny Owens. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
