Portsmouth - Lavinia Guthrie "Duffy" Benbury Andleton, 93, a long time resident of Portsmouth passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012. She was born on May 4, 1919 in Chowan County, NC, to the late Vivian Oscar and Indiana Guthrie Berryman.
Lavinia retired as a salesperson for Sears Roebuck Co. and was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis H. Benbury; two sisters; two brothers; and her second husband, Eugene Andleton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Louis "Rusty" Benbury and wife Pat; a sister, Dorothy B. Wells; two grandchildren, Tracie Lassiter and Robin Winner; and three great grandchildren, Olivia, Danielle and Luke.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 PM.
