Dorothy “Dot” Landis Albert of Virginia Beach (formerly of Warsaw, VA and Long Shop, VA) died peacefully Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents Harvey M. and Ethel Zimmerman Landis, her step-mother Lois Landis, her husband Burgess H. Albert, a daughter Thelma Albert Banerjee, and her brothers Dale Landis and Glen Landis.

Surviving are daughter Mary Albert Vogelsong (David) with grandchildren Michael Vogelsong, Donald Vogelsong, and Melody Vogelsong; son Brian Albert (Viola Dwyer); son Bret Albert (Susan) with grandchildren Maggie Albert, Joe Albert, and Mark Albert; brother Ken Landis of New York; sister Esther Bittinger (Emmert) of Bridgewater, Virginia; sister Bertha Drew (Bob) of Michigan.

Born May 29, 1929, Dot grew up in a large family during the Great Depression, developing life-long qualities of being hard working, and resourceful. Over the years, Dot and her siblings participated in many service projects, some of which included providing disaster relief, building Habitat For Humanity homes, and serving at Camp Ithiel – a camp in Florida founded by their father. Dot was proficient in chair caning, loved travel, card games, and her friends at Seagate Colony. She was known for her “macaroni wiggle” and her deviled eggs.

There will be a celebration of Dot’s life at Seagate Colony (2830 Shore Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23451) on Saturday, June 4, at 4:00 PM.

The family requests donations to help support Camp Ithiel.
