OBITUARY
The death occurred early on Saturday morning of Mr George Gray Alston, aged 69 years, a highly esteemed resident of Maryborough, after an illness of some months. Deceased was born in Warrnambool, Victoria, and served his apprenticeship to the printing and stationery business. On leaving his home town, he worked at his trade at Ballarat, Bendigo, Hobart and Melbourne. He came to Maryborough 46 years ago to work for Messrs Robinson and Kramer, printers, Adelaide Street. Later he went into partnership with the late Mr W. Garvie and the late Mr W. Dawson, and carried on the business up till a few months ago. He was one of the oldest Past Masters of the Excelsior Lodge No. 8, P.A.F.S.O.A., and a foundation member of the Maryborough Bowling Club. He leaves a sorrowing wife (Mrs E. J. Alston) and a family of one daughter, Mrs B. Assmussen, and one son, Mr Sidney Alston. There are three grandchildren.
The funeral, which was of a private nature, took place on Saturday afternoon from his late residence, Ferry Street at 4 o'clock and was attended by relative and a number of intimate friends.
