Mattie Jean Cooper, 91 of Pipestem, passed away Friday evening March 5, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born June 12, 1929 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Roy Prince and Eva Blanche Neely.

Mattie Jean a 1947 graduate of Hinton High School. She was formerly employed by David Ziegler, Attorney at Law, Dr. P.B. Camara, Pipestem Resort and Summers County Hospital. She then entered a career in county government, first as Deputy Circuit Clerk and later serving as Circuit Clerk of Summers County for 12 years. Mattie Jean attended Pipestem Southern Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Cooper and one sister, Alma Webb.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Trail (Karl Reese) of Pipestem and Jeanette Jackson (Tony) of Hendersonville, TN; four grandsons, Doug Trail of Hinton, WV, Jay Jackson of Hendersonville, TN, Gregory Jackons (Tara) of Tampa, FL and Jeremy Jackson (Nicolle) of Cincinnati, OH; special friend and caregiver, Sheri Sims also survive.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton with Pastor Roy Carter officiating. There will be no public visitation. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
