Mary "Helen" (McCreery) Birdsall was born 15 January 1898 in Brecksville, Cuyahoga, Ohio to Silas Andrew McCreery and Edyth Alvira Brush. Silas died in 1901 and a few months later Edyth and her father, Perry D. Brush, purchased a home at 115 Seminary Street, Berea, Cuyahoga, Ohio. The address was changed to 117 Seminary St. The home was a large three family home just down the street from Baldwin Wallace college. Edyth and her two children lived in one part of the three family and her parents lived in another part of the home. By the time Helen was born, her grandfather had retired as a traveling minister, but the entire family was every bit beholding to a very strict Methodist environment to the extent that the steps walked on Sunday were counted. Helen's mother was an accomplished artist.

Helen and Albert Barton Birdsall were married 14 October 1917, Vol 106, Pg 430, Probate records, reel 1888793 found at the Cuy. Cty Archive.

In 1922, Helen and her brother Alfred received their equal portion of their father's estate on Fitzwater and River Roads in Brecksville.

Helen died 14 Mar 1931, age 33, of pneumonia at St Lukes Hospital. She was survived by a son 10, a son 7, a daughter 4 years, her husband Albert age 37, her mother Edyth (Brush) McCreery Fox, and brother Alfred Lewis McCreery.
