A funeral will be held Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 for 95-year-old Arlous W. Abernathy of Perryville who died Sunday, August 7th at the Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born December 22nd, 1909 in Perry County, the son of Edward E. and Mary L. (Cox) Abernathy, who preceded him in death.

He married Ruby Farrar on November 29th, 1933. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include five sons and daughters in law: Wilfred and Barbara Abernathy of Perryville, Ronald and Vallerie Abernathy of Gordonville, Ivan and Cheryl Abernathy of Brooksfield, Florida, Gary and Sharon Abernathy of St. Louis and Lynn and Sheilah Abernathy of Moorpark, California; five daughters and sons in law, Dorothy and Willie Wichern of Washington, Arkansas, Viola and Gary Cooper of Calimesa, California, Janet and Elbert Hadler of Perryville, Carol and Melvin Kluender of Perryville and Kathaleen and Steve Gunding of Friendswood, Texas; two brothers, Paul Abernathy of Sullivan and Bob Abernathy of Perryville, 30 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Lester; daughter, Alice Roth; two brothers, Wallace and Ivan; three sisters, Vergie Parrot, Velma Settlemore and Alma Rubel; one grandson and one granddaughter.

He was a farmer and truck driver.

He was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he held various offices.

Visitation will be 6:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10th, at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral for 95-year-old Arlous W. Abernathy of Perryville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home. The Revs. Don Estes and Jeremy Gundling (grandson) will co-officiate.

Burial will be in the Home Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Home Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Cemetery or to the SEMO Hospice.
