Archibald Blair was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the son of Robert and Mary (Hamilton) Blair. He was married three times. His first wife was Jane Smith. They married in 1875 and had two children before she died of consumption. Only one of her children, Robert, survived. He married his second wife, Marion Coubrough, in 1880. They had five children, but only three survived, Hugh, William and Archibald, Jr. The family immigrated in 1888 and settled in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Marion died in 1891 and Archibald married his third wife, Ella (Boyle) Smith, in 1897. Archibald and Ella moved to Philadelphia. A couple of days after Christmas in 1922, Archibald was struck by a hit-and-run driver, suffered a fractured skull and died on December 28th.
