Edward James Beck, 70, of Billings died Tuesday at Veterans' Hospital in Miles City.

Born in Yankton, S. D., June 4, 1895, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Beck. He came to Montana with his parents in 1913, and attended public schools in Billings.

Mr. Beck worked as a car foreman with Northern Pacific Railroad for 43 years and served in World War I.

He married Margaret Allen in Butte in 1940.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Edward F. Beck, Edward J. Beck, Jr., both of Billings, and Donald Beck of California; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine Steinmetz, Mrs. Jacob Cook, and Mrs. John Kreiner, all of Billings; five brothers, John, of Billings; William and Ted, both of Seattle; Fred, of Portland, and Edwin Beck of Spokane; four sisters, Mrs. Johanna Baney of Olivette, SD, Mrs. Clara Dean of Gettysburg, SD, Mrs. Martha Stieverson of Billings and Mrs. Loretta Sollinger of Los Angeles, Calif.; 23 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be in Smith's Funeral Chapel Saturday at 10 a.m. with burial in Mountview Cemetery.
