MARY MARTHA HAMILTON, daughter of ALEXANDER and MALINDA HAMILTON, was born
November 25, 1850, in Skyler County, Missouri, and died at her home in Leon,
May 1st, 1913, aged 63 years, 6 months and 6 days.

She was married to J.H. ACTON in the year, 1867, to which union three
children were born, JENNETTE E. HARP, who died in 1911; ALFRETTA BENNETT,
who died in 1897; and WM. VERNON ACTON, being the only child living residing
at Aberdeen, South Dakota, and who was unable to come on account of sickness
Three brothers, W.P. HAMILTON, residing in Louisiana; J.H. HAMILTON and M
W. HAMILTON, of Davis City; three sisters, Mrs. JEFF KIZZIRE, of Pleasanton;
Mrs. J.W. BURRELL, of Davis City; and Mrs. S.L. CRAIG, of Pleasanton,
together with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her
husband are left to mourn her departure. She united with the Primitive
Baptist Church, called Palestine, by experience and baptism, in February,
1875. She lived a consistent life, faithful in all her relations a true
companion, loved and respected by all who knew her until her passing away to
that home over there, May 2, 1913, when her spirit took its flight.

A short funeral service was held at the home Friday morning, May 2, 1913, at
10:30 a.m., music being furnished by friends of the deceased. Scripture
reading by the Rev. William Biggs, from 1 Cor. 15th chapter, ably speaking
with thoughts on the resurrection. This body must put on incorruption, and
this mortal must put on immortality.

The remains were taken, accompanied by many friends to Pleasanton on the
noon train where interment was made at the Hamilton Cemetery beside her
father and mother to await the resurrection morn. Another useful life has
gone, full of kind and noble deeds. Mrs. Acton was a woman loved and
respected by all who knew her. Peace to her ashes.
