Clyde Eckel, 45, 613 East Howard Street, died of an apparent heart attack while getting in his car at the Pontiac Correctional Center parking lot. He was an employee of the center.
Mr. Eckel was born October 27, 1932 at Streator, a son of Andrew and Irene Scurlock Eckel. He attended Pontiac schools. He was married to Janet Ferrara at Mount Vernon, New York in 1953.
He was a foreman of the tailor shop at the Correctional Center the last 15 years. He served in th U. S. Navy for four years, serving onerseas and in the European theatre. He was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs Deborah Newsom, Slaton, Texas and a son Gary, Pontiac,IL. Also surviving are his brothers Andrew II and William, Pontiac, IL and Robert, Harvard, and a sister, Mrs. Peggy Jones
