He was born in Jabez, Kentucky on May 7, 1940, son of the late Ezra B. and
Lena Johnson McGowan. He was a teacher for the Lincoln County School system and a farmer. He recently accepted Christ as his savior.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Floyd McGowan, whom he married on
February 23, 1967, one daughter, Gretta & (Robbie) McGowan Tarter of Eubank, two brothers, Vernon B. & (Louise) McGowan of Jabez, KY and Lester Keith McGowan of Cincinnati, OH, one sister, Helen & (Tom) Linville of Hendersonville, NC, one grandchild, Rinna Nicole Tarter, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Winston McGowan and one sister, Lois Alene Lipscomb.
Funeral services were held at 11 AM Monday, April 14, 2008 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Blevins officiating.
Burial was in the Goodhope Cemetery.
